Southern Copper profit slipped 68% as prices plunged

Southern Copper Corp, the leading copper producer in Peru and Mexico, posted a 68 percent dip in second-quarter profit on slumping metals prices.

Rodrigo Suazo, a mining analyst at brokerage SAB Centura, stated:

We expected a negative result with such a big drop in metals prices.
