September 26, 2008 @ 2:05 pm In Copper Market News
With Shanghai copper inventories dropping as much as 2,000 metric tonnes this week as well as expectation for further drops in stockpiles copper futures were up this week for the first week in five.
Trading is lackluster today as many people are already out for the holidays, and few want to put on new positions given the current volatility," said Li Junchao, an analyst at Shenyin Wanguo Futures Co [1].
December-delivery copper ended 0.2 percent lower at 53,360 yuan ($7,792) a ton on the Shanghai Futures Exchange [2]. Still, that was a 1.7 percent advanced for the week. Stockpile data compiled by the Shanghai Futures Exchange is due at around 3:30 p.m. local time.
